In this article, we look at the Crestron Home Control solution for this lovely London home.
While making plans for the renovation of his London villa, our client knew that it was the perfect time to consider adding a Crestron Home control system. The build team was going to take the property back to bare bones, with an extensive renovation planned. This would be the perfect time to add home technology because we could update the wiring and infrastructure whilst the walls, ceilings and floors were accessible.
Our client asked us to provide a smart home solution, which would include:
- Crestron Home
- Lutron Lighting System
- Sonos Audio
- Data Network
- IRS Satellite System
The client needed a system that would be easy to use, for friends and family alike. The client’s children enjoyed movies and gaming and the client himself would be working from home from time to time. With regular visiting guests, it followed that the system would need to be simple and flexible.
Our client actually has Crestron Home in his other properties and so we were all absolutely certain it would provide the very best option for his London home.
Crestron Home
The housewide Crestron control system provides the “brains” of the design and also the interface between the technology and the user. The ethos underpinning Crestron Home is that of simplicity and ease of use. Everything, therefore, is easy to operate, maintain and adjust.
Lutron Lighting System
The first item on the technology wish-list was a smart lighting system. Lutron was the obvious choice, as the client is familiar with the product and actually has a system in his main home in the Middle East. He loves the reliability and robustness that comes with every Lutron system, he is familiar with Lutron’s lovely keypads. He is evidently accustomed to the benefits of living with a smart lighting system.
Sonos Audio
Our client was very keen to have a housewide audio system and he had a preference for a streamed system. A Sonos based design provided a robust and economical solution, which, when paired with Bowers and Wilkins in-ceiling speakers, gave the client the sleek flexibility he was looking for.
Data Network
A solid and secure data network is absolutely critical for modern living and provides the backbone for home technology systems. We, therefore, used a Ubiquiti system, which allowed us to deliver a professional wired and wireless solution. From VLANs to guest access, the demands on the network have been carefully considered and properly addressed.
IRS Satellite System
Since the property was being extensively renovated, it would be an opportune time to update the RF provision. We provided a fibre IRS – integrated reception system – which allowed us to deliver Sky Q, digital terrestrial (Freeview), FM and DAB.
Crestron Home To Deliver Home Technology
Making sure that each of the separate systems were easy to access and use was of paramount importance. This is why Crestron Home was a perfect choice. Using smart devices, the client is able to control his environment and the technology within it. He can adjust the lighting, change the heating and he can control the audio and video. He can answer the door and check his security cameras. And not only that but guests are well provided for too. Our client can select the level of access that each guest is given, making sure that they are permitted access to what they need. The system is brilliantly simple, useable and scalable.
In Conclusion
The Crestron Home Control System was the perfect solution for this project. The client is delighted with the system and looks forward to using it each time he is in London. For us, it was a pleasure to work with him and his build team. It’s always a pleasure to revisit this project, as part of our service and maintenance activities. And with the Crestron Home system, the system can grow and change with the client’s needs.
