Guy Singleton CEDIA Award – Special Recognition 2016

We are thrilled to announce that Guy Singleton, our Managing Director, has been awarded the CEDIA Award – Special Recognition Award this year. The award was presented to Guy at this year’s CEDIA awards at the gala dinner held at the Guildhall in London.

“CEDIA is the international trade association and central touchpoint for companies that design, manufacture, and install technology in the home.”

The CEDIA Award scheme was designed to showcase the achievements within the industry of individuals and organisations. To receive a CEDIA Award is a highly coveted accolade as it represents the approval of industry experts. The CEDIA Awards signify and recognise commendable achievement and innovation within our industry, judged by an independent panel of leading industry experts.

Guy has been a member of CEDIA since 2001 and over that period has dedicated thousands of volunteer hours to CEDIA, including a large amount of time put into redistributing his extensive expertise on the CEDIA education committee. This aids the industry in ensuring that the correct resources and content are available on CEDIA’s most successful training courses. Guy dedicated more than 300 hours acting as a CEDIA representative on a committee for the Institute of Engineering & Technology. Compiling a new Code of Practice for Low and Extra Low Voltage Direct Current Power Distribution.

CEDIA Award for Guy Singleton

This is what CEDIA said when presenting the award:

“This category recognises the outstanding contribution of individuals to the work of CEDIA along with growth of the industry.

Tonight’s winner is someone who joined CEDIA in 2001.

In his fifteen years as a member, he has given hundreds of volunteer hours to CEDIA, working to develop industry recognised standards and share his extensive knowledge with others.

Most recently, he has acted as CEDIA’s representative as a technical expert in drawing up a new Code of Practice for Low and Extra Low Voltage Direct Current Power Distribution in Buildings – possibly the longest name for any standard!

On this project alone, he has racked up over 300 man hours of his time to ensure that the right standard is put in place, not for his own interest, nor for CEDIA’s, but because it is what needs to be done to encourage best practice in the industry.

We will all benefit from his selflessness.

Over the years, he has served on the CEDIA Education Committee and taught as a CEDIA Instructor on CEDIA’s behalf, presenting as an instructor both in the UK, and further afield in Europe and India and imminently in America as part of the education programme at CEDIA Dallas and as a judge on the CEDIA US Awards.

Throughout his volunteer work, this man carries himself with great humility. He will probably hate the fact that he is coming on stage in front of this huge audience to accept our thanks and acclaim, we cannot deny it is very well deserved!

So, please join with me to do more than just imagine this – and welcome onto stage…Guy Singleton”

Guy collected the award and was extremely pleased, he commented: “I feel very honoured to be the recipient of the CEDIA Special Recognition Award this year, I proudly join a special group of distinguished winners, including Simon Buddle, Mike Beatty and Peter Aylett, who I have so much respect for. I felt genuinely overwhelmed at the kind words and handshakes that followed the award by my friends and industry peers. CEDIA does great work in the promotion of standards and education. To make this possible, there are many hardworking volunteers that dedicate their time freely behind the scenes, of which I am just one.”

We are extremely proud to have an industry expert on our team.
