One of his most significant contributions was serving as CEDIA’s technical representative on a committee for the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Guy dedicated more than 300 hours to the development of the IET’s Code of Practice for Low and Extra Low Voltage Direct Current Power Distribution in Buildings.
Published in 2015, the Code of Practice provides guidance for the safe, effective and competent design, specification, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of low- and extra-low-voltage direct-current power distribution within buildings.
Guy’s contribution helped to ensure that the document addressed the practical realities of integrated technology systems, including the increasing use of telecommunications cabling and direct-current power within modern buildings.

The idea grew directly from Guy’s work designing high-performance cinemas at Imagine This. Cinema design depends upon many interconnected calculations—from room and seating geometry to loudspeaker positioning, sound-pressure levels, screen dimensions, viewing angles and system headroom. These calculations were often completed using separate tools and spreadsheets, making the process unnecessarily time-consuming and increasing the potential for inconsistency.
Guy set out to bring these disciplines together within a single, purpose-built design environment. Working with software developers and drawing upon his practical experience, he helped translate established engineering principles into a structured workflow that designers could apply consistently across different rooms, systems and performance requirements.

In 2011, Imagine This was engaged to create a reference screening room for film director Sir Peter Jackson.
A room of this nature must support critical viewing and listening, with the technology and environment working together to reproduce content with accuracy, consistency and appropriate cinematic scale.
Although the confidential nature of the commission limits the information we can publish, the appointment reflected Imagine This’s ability to deliver specialist cinema environments for exceptionally discerning professional users.
Ahead of the production of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Imagine This was approached by MARV to design and deliver a private screening room for film director Matthew Vaughn and Claudia Schiffer at their home.
The cinema was engineered to provide the level of performance expected within a professional filmmaking environment while remaining appropriate for a private residence. Its carefully specified system included a Trinnov Altitude cinema processor, Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers, a fixed projection screen and a laser projector.
While the confidential nature of the project means that further details cannot be shared, it remains an important example of Guy Singleton’s experience in designing private cinemas for clients with an expert understanding of film and its presentation.
Imagine This was engaged by one of the world’s leading game developers to design an immersive studio at its London facility.
Created for the critical evaluation of game audio and visual content, the room required a carefully engineered environment in which creative and technical teams could assess their work with confidence.
The confidential nature of the project prevents us from sharing the client’s identity, system specification or further details. It nevertheless represents an important example of Guy Singleton’s experience in applying cinema-engineering principles within a specialist professional production environment.
Guy has led the design of numerous private cinemas in which room architecture, acoustics, image reproduction, loudspeaker deployment, system electronics, and control must operate as a single coherent system.
In 2013, Imagine This received the CEDIA Award for Best Home Cinema over £100,000. The recognition reflected the standard of design, engineering and integration achieved across the completed room, not simply the selection of individual products.
